Interested in how the 3080Ti boys end up when they are released next month. Running a card at a higher clock speed might mean a bit more performance but it also usually means higher temperature that needs to be removed = fans work harder = higher noise level and it also usually means the card needs more power. I ran the heaven benchmark through a few times giving the card a run to warm up before recording hardware information. I was happy with the TUF and didn't know it. Vinicio I can't reach that magical 121 MH/s rate other people are having with a 3090 card. This is probably not stable, but PR runs. I do, however, want to hit +99% in framerate stability. Even with the undervolt you still get a performance boost over the 3080. Happy for you!! Are you sure it is locked at only 0.7mV? But after seeing Optimum Tech being able to hit 1800MHz with 806mV and 1850MHz with 850mV, I'm wondering if anyone else is able to hit those undervolts aswell? I would like to further undervolt my RTX 3070 to test out the maximum efficiency. Hello again! The software I used for this article was: I undervolted both the Gigabyte RTX 3080 Eagle OC and the Gigabyte RTX 3090 Eagle OC but in the images below it is the RTX 3080 that is used. But the temperature is just comparable with my TUF OC (up to 75C), consuming around the same amount of power as the TUF (up to 320W), but much noisier at stock fan speeds. As you can see in my screenshot, my card settled at 1875MHz @1.069V, with 460 Watt peaks: My card is draw 290w as you can see because I using kp 1000w bios. Just curious what other undervolters are doing with their FEs, and maybe see if there's an opinion that I could personally do something better. That just seems unrealistic but I'd love to be wrong haha. The heaviest settings possible Summarized here again: 1750Mhz in the Curve-Editor result in real 1785Mhz after the heating phase (think of the offset I already described by the P-States!) or they got sent a better binned card by nvidia for reviews. I guess I'll stick with a fan curve that goes up to 1700 RPM for 80C. What if you instead could find a way to lower both the temperature and the power draw while still getting almost the same performance? Under the test, with my previous undervolt setting, that used 100% (stock) on the powerslider, my GPU clock dropped from the 1815MHz to 1750-ish MHz, because maximum power was hit (the 100%). In my case I settled on 1815 MHz. Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. I was happy with the TUF and didn't know it. In the following pages you can both read on how to do it yourself but also get an idea how it will affect both the performance but also the thermals (and noise level). Hey folks! have you also observed that undervolting forces the card to draw more Amps instead and therefore even exceeding the set power limit (e.g: in afterburner the max limit was set to 123% but undervolting like 1030mV at 2050mhz made it reach 135% multiple times during an only 2 minute benchmark (the bright memory infinite one). Do NOT press control-L, instead just switch to the main MSI Afterburner window and press APPLY. My 3090 can't do that, and it's a shame, because Optimum Tech reports his 3090 draws 71 watt less at 1800MHz using 806mV and that'spretty good. I did confirmed actual clockrates , not mhz setuped in MSI afterburner. For a few generations of GPUs now the GPUs have no longer been running with a set clockspeed instead boosting to a higher clockspeed that is partly determined by power target limit and temperatures. max many times up to 60, not using full gpu power anyhow happy finally. I came to the term of undervolting, checked some videos, but it still seems too scary to start doing it, since i may fk something up - but as far as i read you can save up to 100w usage. I mainly wanna undervolt because I want my PC to be quiet with good temps but also because the 3090 is very power hungry. Build is R7 5700x (stock settings) + 3070 aorus master + 16GB 3200mhz on a B450 msi carbon ac wifi. If the test drops below the 97.5% in framerate stability, the test will stop (fail). Also remember that just because we could undervolt our cards to a certain setting does not mean your card will work the same. But at idle, the volt is as low as 0.7mV, like your undervolt. about. StickyPC ive undervolted my Strix 3090 to 0.850 @ 1905 but i find my temps quite hot even with it, while playing some games like days gone, i have around 70c on core and 86c on memory, I game at 38401600, ive also put some heatsink and a fan on the backplate to cool vrm but not sure if it does something to be honest, I dont want to go on water for now or change thermal pads for warranty issues, Are thos ok temps for this gpu? My chip is just normal, I think most 3090 can do it. This test was carried out with stock settings i.e no undervolt etc - You can see a few things: Thing is, constantly hitting that hotspot high can slowly damage your card. Maybe I should try to tomorrow and see how far my card will go on auto, with the powerlimit set to max - kinda curious what the temps will be, and were the clockspeed will settle. The problem I am having is the fans are particularly loud - when the core is running at 83C which is the hard limit set on the card, the fans are running at 100% which equates to 4000RPM so it sounds like a jet engine. In order to make all of this a bit more interesting, the Gigabyte and the Asus card compete against each other in undervolting this time, and that in each case representatively in variant 1 lower the power limit and simultaneously overclock and variant 2 fixed voltage and clock. From what Ive read you can set the voltage around 800 900 mV for the RTC 3080 and 750 800 mV for the RTX 3090. - Very theoretically extend the life of the card (less heat) My preferred settings on a 3080 Gigabyte Gaming OC - 875mV set to a upper curve of 1965Mhz (down from 2000Mhz ish in many games stock) Happy for you. Mine is a tad lower but I left the GPU fans on auto, with the latest Resizable BAR BIOS, and I also have an air-cooled 5950X on stock. But 1800MHz@875mV is stable. Certain. Need to check on the weekend. This is something that has been done to both CPUs and GPUs for many years. happy to compare results too. I'm kinda blown away I started mining few days ago and i'm looking for ways to maximaze performance/safe/profit ratios. Youtuber Frame Chasers reminded he saw 200mhz max overclock difference on rtx3090 cards. After running the Port Royal Stress Test again, I need to lower to 1830 @ 850 mV so I guess I'm not too far off from your results. Feels like golden sample. For example in something old like heaven (what optimum tech tested with) I could do 1920mhz on 0.85v and be "stable" all day. At 2200RPM I can hear my 3090 but it really isn't loud at all. For this purpose I overclocked the gigabyte in performance mode by +100Mhz offset on the core and +650Mhz on the memory and this with simultaneous lowering of the power limit by 10%, which results in ~ 333 watts at the gaming OC. If i go lower like 1850 for 0.8 will I lose a lot of performances? I'd like to compare with my results. I undervolt my 3080 to 0.9V at 1920MHz. When you open up MSI Afterburner strike CTRL+F in order to open the Frequency/Voltage Curve Editor displayed in the window on the right in the image above. Link:Pure RayTracing benchmark by MARvizer (itch.io) I think most of us are pretty familiar with the concept of overclocking. The idea is to put as much load on the card as possible. ASUS Maximus XI Extreme: Z390 with all the things! After the initial disappointment, it seems that the FTW3, at this lower noise levels, is just as fine as the TUF, but it has better RAM cooling and more room to stretch its legs if I would care less about fan noise or ever put it under a water block. Nice undervolt you have. Control/Odyssey (booth some hours) and 6hrs timespy stable. What I saw better undervolt results had the guys from end 2020 and batches from March and later were cards with lower silicon quality in most cases, just luck I know. Now I own a 3090 TUF OC that is able to hold 1800MHz at 812mV, quite a nice result if I may say so: I've tried stretching it to 1860MHz, but it starts warming up more and becoming not so stable (frequency wise), I also am very concerned by any temperature increase since the VRAM chips on those cards run very hot: Nice tip about this Pure RT benching tool.
